Exposure to asbestos causes serious ill-health including cancer. For this reason, workers, contractors and any individual who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) must be trained to a basic level of awareness. This is to ensure the safety of themselves and others who may be in the area.
This Asbestos Awareness (Category A) is IATP-accredited and provides an introduction to asbestos awareness and the dangers of working with asbestos. Upon completion of this course you will understand:
– The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). How the regulations help you to stay safe and how to comply with the regulations whilst at work.
– Understand why asbestos is dangerous, where it can be found and what to do if you do discover or disturb asbestos.
– Understand the serious medical conditions associated with exposure to asbestos.
– Understand the legal duties held by people responsible for buildings and structures.

Final Assessment
On completion of the lessons, you will gain access to the asbestos awareness final assessment. The final assessment is comprised of 20 questions and will test you on what you have learned. The questions are multiple-choice and are marked instantly. The pass mark for the assessment is 90% there is no limit to the number of times you can take the test.
