If during your work you discover something that may be asbestos, you must stop work immediately. Remember to put up a warning sign and ensure that nobody enters the area. The problem should be reported to a team leader at the earliest possible opportunity. The duty holder should then arrange for the suspected asbestos to be sampled. If the sample does not contain asbestos then work can commence. If the material does contain asbestos a licensed contractor will be required to take further action.
